The Quick Stop grocery store and the RST Video video store reopen their doors to close the history of ‘Clerks’, the Kevin Smith film that revolutionized independent cinema in 1994.
Smith, who already made a sequel in 2006 with Rosario Dawson as co-star and two spin-offs of the characters from Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Smith himself), will close the trilogy with ‘Clerks 3’ with the return of its main protagonists, Dante (Brian O’Halloran) and Randal (Jeff Anderson). Other original performers like Marilyn Ghigliotti, Trevor Fehrman, Scott Schiaffo and the aforementioned Mewes, Dawson and Smith will also return… And watch out for cameos (!).
In the third installment, Randal will suffer a near-fatal heart attack and his outlook on life will change. This appears to be inspired by what Kevin Smith went through in real life after suffering a heart attack that nearly killed him.. The incident will inspire Randal to make a movie at the Quick Stop store along with his good friend Dante, detailing their lives as employees at the grocery store. Through the making of the film, ‘Clerks 3’ will recreate some moments from the original film, fighting to get among the best films about the world of cinema or meta cinema.
Kevin Smith has also unveiled a couple of posters with the caption “They are too old for this shift“, making a play on words between “Shift” (turn) and “Shit” (shit), parodying the mythical phrase of the character Roger Murtaugh (Danny Golver) in the saga of ‘Lethal Weapon’.
‘Clerks 3’ will have a limited release in US theaters during the days September 13 and 15and in Spain we will have to wait for a festival or platform to decide to project it.
