Karl Urban and Antony Starr in 'The Boys'

Taking into account the tone, the direction and the bet that Eric Kripke has opted for from the beginning, It would be strange if ‘The Boys’ chose to play with certain twists in the face of its final ending. We still have to live the outcome of the third season, which premieres this July 8 on Amazon Prime Video, and a whole fourth, for which the start date of filming has already been confirmed; but this has not prevented Antony Starr from reflecting on the future of his character.

Patriot, the complete antithesis of Captain America, is having a truly brutal journey in the aforementioned series (in all senses), hence Starr does not even consider certain things in the face of the closure of this Super that is happy watching the world burn. Said actor comments on statements to Collider, emphasizing that Patriot would never leave the Dark Side. “I think the happy ending for Patriot would be to end up alone, sitting in a fucking wasteland after annihilating the entire planet, with no one to bother him. I don’t think there’s a redemption story for him.

The only option for this interpreter, who shares the limelight with Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Chace Crawford or Jensen Ackles, is for his character to embrace the villain mode without the slightest glimmer of light, because softening him does not fit anything.

“To be honest, I really wouldn’t want to see that. [una redención]. Nor do I think there is any intention to take that path. As for the possible death of him… I don’t know.. Every time I try to figure out what might happen in the future, I’m wrong, so I’ve stopped speculating. I’ve decided to leave that up to the writers and save myself the embarrassment of not giving one”.

Taking advantage of the pull

‘The Boys’ is having a very good reception on Amazon Prime Video, hence the team don’t want to delay the production of the next season too much. In fact, as confirmed by Urban, on August 20 they get to work with the filming of season 4. “I’ll come back and put the Butcher chip on again, I’m looking forward to it”.

Before that we will see a fierce battle in episode 8 of season 3, an outcome for which the Supers prepare with less confidence than they usually look; while The Boys try not to lose faith. Both contenders sharpen their best weapons before a face to face led by Patriot and Butcher.
