14 sailors die after helicopter crash in Los Mochis;  Semar rules out relationship with the capture of Caro Quintero

A Black Hawk-type helicopter of the Secretariat of the Navy-Navy of Mexico (Semar) that participated in the operational tasks of that institution, collapsed in the vicinity of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, leaving a balance of 14 dead crewreported Semar.

Until now, There is no evidence that the fall of the aircraft is related to the capture of Rafael Caro Quintero, added the dependency.

According to the naval authorities, there is only one survivor of the plane crashwho is already receiving medical care.

“It is reported that today during the operational activities carried out by this institution, a Mexican Navy aircraft crashed in Los Mochis, Sinaloa. Based on the information available at the time, a Black Hawk helicopter suffered an accident, unknown at the time the causes of it”, states the statement.

Regarding the causes of the crash, the Mexican Navy said that they are unknown so far, but advanced that there is no evidence that the fall of the helicopter has any kind of relationship with the capture, in a parallel event, of the Sinaloa capo and founder of the Guadalajara Cartel, Rafael Caro Quintero.

“Derived from the versions that are handled in various media, it is important to clarify that until now There is no information that the plane crash is related to the arrest of the alleged drug trafficker”, clarified the agency.

The fall of the aircraft occurred this afternoon, parallel to the operation carried out by Semar in the municipality of Choix, Sinaloa, to capture Caro Quintero. Both information came out at the same time, so the unit issued the clarification and warned that the investigation into what happened to the aircraft is already underway.

The Semar added that “investigations will be carried out to determine the causes that could cause the accident” of the aircraft and the death of 14 of its members

Finally, the Secretary of the Navy lamented “the death of those who lost their lives in this accident”, emphasizing that they are naval personnel “who in life gave a sign of service and dedication to the nation.”
