The journalist Ernesto Núñez Albarrán explained that the electoral reform proposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador seeks profound changes, among which the following stand out: eliminate the INE and create a new institute for elections and consultations, reduce the number of senators and reduce the budget granted to the matches. Ernesto Núñez considered that López Obrador’s reform is used “almost as a threat” every time there is controversy with the country’s electoral authorities.
