First case of monkeypox detected in Michoacán;  It is a tourist from CDMX

The first case of monkeypox in Michoacán was detected this Sunday, in a tourist from Mexico Cityinformed the Ministry of Health of the entity.

He is already isolated, with pharmacological treatment and under medical attention, so his state of health is stable, the dependency detailed.

He also added that the diagnosis of 30 year old patient it was confirmed by the Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference (InDRE).

The secretariat recommended in the presence of a suspected case do not touch lesions, wash hands for at least 20 seconds, avoid physical contact and wear face masks.

The disease has been reported in different entities of the country. The last friday, Puebla and Baja California Sur confirmed their first cases.

Baja California, Sinaloa, Nuevo León, Colima, Veracruz, State of Mexico, Oaxaca, Tabasco and Quintana Roo, have also reported positive diagnoses. With this it they add up to more than 60 in the country, most of them in Mexico City and Jalisco.

Monkeypox is a disease of low transmission that can be transferred through contact with body fluids and contaminated objects.

Symptoms include sudden fever of up to 38 degrees Celsius or higher; headache, exhaustion, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, profound weakness, rash, and blistering skin lesions.

The current recommendation for people with the virus is to isolate themselves and not travel until they recover; contact cases should monitor their temperature and monitor for other possible symptoms for 9 to 21 days.
