President Andrés Manuel López Obrador received this morning at the National Palace the Mexican astronaut, Katya Echazarreta.
The president affirmed that the electrical engineer, originally from Jalisco, is a source of pride for the country, since she recently became the first Mexican woman to travel to space. In addition, he described her as “an exceptional person.”
Moments before entering the meeting, Echazarreta declared to the media that the purpose of the meeting, in addition to meeting the president, was to talk to him about his experience “and be able to inspire more people, support students and young people in the country. ”.
“It is an experience that really changes your life completely. Not just because of the attention I’ve received, but because it changes your perspective and even your way of being, your way of existing,” she added.
After his meeting with the president, Katya Echazarreta attended an event organized by the government of Mexico City, in which he received recognition from its owner, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
During her speech, the astronaut confessed that, moments before her launch into space, she felt very afraid, but managed to overcome it and get ahead in her mission.
“I want each one of you to know that you can get where you want to go, if you want to get to space you can get to space. So please, every time you think of something you want to do, don’t say I want this, say I’m going to do it”, Echazarreta asked the girls present at the event.
For its part, the head of government He pointed out that it is not only his obligation, and that of the capital officials, to help the girls to complete their goals and “break the glass ceiling”, but that they have in all of them “allies to be able to get ahead”.
