The National Survey of Health and Prevention of the Ministry of Health revealed that 3 out of 5 patients who had Covid-19 have sequelae after contagion of the virus. In addition, 19% of them report sequelae that do not allow them to take care of themselves.
ENSANUT collected information from 37 thousand 117 people who were surveyed on compliance with protection measures during the pandemic, the performance of Covid-19 tests and the national vaccination process.
The 61% of respondents who was infected with Covid-19 during 2021 presented sequelae after receiving medical discharge or a month after being infected. 28% have chronic fatigue and 21% muscle and joint pain, as well as cough or headache. The highest percentage corresponds to womenwho reported experiencing short-term and long-term sequelae.
In addition, the 19% have consequences that do not allow them to take care of themselves and 36% have consequences that prevent them from leaving home.
Of the 37,000 people surveyed, 23% had a positive test and 76% had a negative test. 82 percent of the population said that did not intend to take a test for Covid-19so only 15.1 percent of those surveyed took the test.
Regarding the protection measures against Covid19, 80% of the population always wore a face mask17% “almost always” used it.
Among those who said they don’t wear a face covering, 39 percent said they don’t wear one because it makes it hard to breathe, while 35 percent said they don’t think they’re at risk.
87% of the population responded that they rarely or never avoided gatherings, while 55% always chose to stay home.
