These are the six government commitments to reinforce the anti-inflationary plan

The Secretary of Finance and Public Credit, Rogelio Ramírez de la O, presented on Tuesday morning six commitments that the federal government will assume to reinforce the anti-inflationary plan.

During the press conference morning of President López Obrador at the National Palace, Ramírez affirmed that the national agreement to avoid faminelaunched three months ago, is giving good results, and has managed to maintain stability in the commodity prices.

“Without this package, inflation would have been 2.6 percent higher than today’s 8.16%, which is why, among other reasons, inflation in Mexico is lower than other countries, including the United States,” said the head of the SHCP .

The federal official announced the six commitments that the administration headed by Andrés Manuel López Obrador will assume in order to maintain control of the prices of basic products:

  1. Do not increase the energy costsyes;
  2. Accelerate the opening of the importation of basic;
  3. Limit the export of White corn to have a strategic reserve;
  4. Secure agreements with the United States to have more milk and fertilizers;
  5. Regulate rail interconnection rates for access to supplies and products; Y,
  6. Continue monitoring the stabilization of the basket of 24 products.

For his part, the director of Mexican Food Security (Segalmex), Leonel Cota, announced that Mexico is going to buy 20,000 tons of milk powder to the United States by the end of the year, and possibly 30 thousand tons by the beginning of 2023.

He also announced that the federal government determined to increase the milk price guarantee from 8 to 10 pesos, for the benefit of national producers, who have increased their production in recent months to reach approximately 6 million liters per month.

During the conference, the President Lopez Obrador He denounced that some distributors of basic products in the country take advantage of the increases in prices that inflation entails to raise prices even more, affecting final consumers.

He affirmed that the intention of his government is to keep the prices of the basic basket stable so as not to give them an excuse to abuse.

The general director of Petróleos Mexicanos, Octavio Romero Oropeza, reported that the Fertilizer for Wellness Program has achieved a 73 percent advance in scheduled shipments.

As of July 2022, 349 thousand tons of fertilizers have been produced and it is expected to add 274 thousand tons by the end of the year. By covering the volume committed to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for the Federal Fertilizer Program for 352 thousand tons in nine statesthere would be a remaining production of 271 thousand tons to cover other entities.
