90% probability that a tropical wave in Oaxaca will become a cyclone, alerts Conagua

A cyclone could develop off the coast of Oaxaca in the next 48generating very strong punctual rains, warned the National Water Commission (Conagua).

According to the dependency, there is a 70% chance that the meteorological phenomenon develops in the next 48 hours in the south of the coasts of the entity. Stats increase to 90% in 5 days.

The tropical wave is located at 490 kilometers south-southwest Puerto Angel, Oaxaca and moves to the west-northwest between 18 and 27 kilometers per hour.

According to Conagua forecasts, it will be gradually absorbed by the circulation of the low pressure zone, generating strong punctual rains.

This afternoon, the very heavy punctual rains will be presented in Guerrero, Oaxaca and Chiapasall with electric shocks and could generate increase in the levels of rivers and streams, landslides and floods.

They are also expected wind gusts of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour Y waves from 1.5 to 2.5 meters of significant height on the coasts of Guerrero and Oaxaca.
