Rafael Méndez Valenzuela denounced in his book Prisoner of the system that he was unjustly arrested and imprisoned in 2008 for 13 years. He maintained that he wrote the book so that “Mexico finds out” about the injustices, since he affirmed that, during Calderón’s six-year term, several innocent people were arrested.
