Ship with foreign flag achieves first cargo of grains in Ukraine since the beginning of the war

A foreign-flagged ship arrived in Ukraine this Saturday for the first time since the war began in February and will be loaded with grain, Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov said.

Ukraine is starting to resume grain exports in an effort overseen by a Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul, where Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish and UN staff work.

Kubrakov said that the Fulmar S general cargo ship, with barbadian flagwas in the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk.

“We are doing (everything) possible to ensure that our ports can receive and handle more ships. In particular, we plan to reach the level of at least three to five boats per day in (a period of) two weeks,” he wrote on his Facebook account.

Ukraine is finally betting on shipping 3 million tons a month from its Black Sea ports, Kubrakov added.

About 20 million tons of cereals from last year’s harvests remain stagnant in the country. (rts)
