Javier May, director of Fonatur, assured that section 5 South of the Mayan Train was completely released to continue the works.
The federal official reported that a federal judge denied proceeding with the definitive suspension, in the case with file 1137/2022.
Previously, the courts had granted the provisional suspension, but now they found no legal reasons to keep the work on that section stopped.
On the other hand, the same judge did grant the definitive suspension in the so-called 5 North section of the Mayan Train Project, where the failure to apply the environmental impact and risk policy is claimed, among other effects on the environment.
Javier May affirmed that the judge, in his ruling, determined that it was not demonstrated how irreparable damage would be caused to the environment in Section 5 South.
But we continue fighting because now the judge has granted a “definitive suspension” to 5 Norte, where the MIA is already underway and we will also certify that the work is legal.
