It's back!  Johnny Depp plays King Louis XV, his first role since Amber's trial

The French producer Why Not Productions, released the first image of the American actor, Johnny Depp, in the role of King Louis XV. Le Pacte, a new French company dedicated to the distribution of films, is the one that circulated the photograph of the drama, which is already being shot.

The director also acts on tape like Jeanne duBarry, who becomes the favorite companion of Louis XV. Unaware of her courtesan status, she regains an appetite for life thanks to her relationship and they fall madly in love with her. Jeanne moves to Versailles, where her arrival shocks the court.

Other cast members include Benjamin Lavernhe, Pierre Richard, Melvil Poupaud, Noémie Lvovsky, Pascal Greggory, and India Hair.

French period drama was an intriguing package at Cannes this May for French sales powerhouse Wild Bunch International. Le Pacte will handle distribution in France.
