FBI interviewed former Trump adviser and his deputy for classified documents

the fbi interviewed former White House counsel Pat Cipollone and his deputy in the framework of the investigation into classified documents stored in the house of former President Donald Trump, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters on Tuesday.

It is unclear when the talks with Cipollone took place, while his deputy, Patrick Philbin, was interviewed in the springaccording to him New York Timeswhich previously reported the news.

During an August 8 search of Trump’s home in Mar-a-Lago, FBI agents removed classified documents, including some marked ‘top secret’as reported at the time by the Department of Justice.

The search was carried out as part of an investigation into whether those documents were illegally removed from the White House, after Republican Trump left office in January 2021 following his electoral loss to Democrat Joe Biden.

Trump has said the files were “all declassified” and placed in “secure storage.”

A representative for Cipollone and Philbin did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters.
