The Mexican women’s soccer team beat the German team in the last day of the U-20 World Cup groups.
The Mexican team only needed victory to advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament and achieved the result thanks to a goal from Alexia Villanueva, just 20 minutes before the final whistle.
The German team went with everything to find the tie, but the tricolor team showed great character to keep the defense solid, which started from three quarters of the field, without showing signs of fatigue.
The Mexicans were not favorites to win the game, but throughout the 90 minutes they showed order in all lines and had practically no surprises from the European team.
With this result, the tricolor is second in the group, with five points, tied with Colombia.
