The federal agency indicated that the lack of scientific evidence to prove the properties irresponsibly attributed to them is a risk to health and affect the economy of those who acquire them.

Nettle plus Garlic King Y Nettle plus extra strong King Garlic are marketed in tablets and capsules, are advertised as so-called dietary supplements, however, it indicated fail to comply with the health regulation before Cofepris. In addition, healing, therapeutic and rehabilitative qualities are illegally attributed to it.

“Until now, the alleged qualities attributed to it have not been demonstrated with scientific evidence before this authority, for which the authority is alert that it could be deception products. It has not been shown that they comply with what is offered: reduction of pain and inflammation in joints, back, neck, knee, hands, feet, shoulders, elbow, wrist and hip“, affirmed the Cofepris.

He added that the Office for Latin America of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that the sale of these products in the United States was detected, for which an Immediate Public Notification was issued.

After the analysis carried out by Cofepris and FDA said, it was detected that these products cheat cThey contain ingredients not declared on their label, such as: diclofenac, dexamethasone and methocarbamol; In addition, they could contain other components of natural and/or synthetic origin that, in combination, would have harmful effects on health and even negatively interact with other medications.

Cofepris recalled that in August 2021, the regulatory agency issued an alert about the hoax product with a similar name: Artri Garlic King reinforced with Nettle Omega 3which was analyzed by the National Reference Laboratory of the Commission for Analytical Control and Extension of Coverage (CCAyAC), specifically for the identification of steroids, where the presence of dexamethasone and methylprednisolone in the analyzed sample, both corticosteroids not declared on the item’s label.
