The coordinator of the Morena parliamentary group in the Senate, Ricardo Monreal Ávila, assured that “it would be suicide” to confront President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, so he denied that there is a break between the two.
When interviewed at the end of the Morena Plenary in the Senate, he stated: “No, there is no broken relationship with the president; there is a relationship of affection and respect, I just have my own opinion, but I will never confront him, it would be suicide.”
The also president of the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo) assured that the president “is part of the history of this country” and that if confronted with him he would “throw overboard” the 25 years of his life that he has dedicated to “this fight.”
“I have my own criteria, and I have my autonomy of opinion”, he emphasized, while saying that he will not change and will continue to defend his positions. “And the president knows it, he knows that I always passionately defend my ideas and my principles, as he does, as he taught us.”
“And for that reason there is no relationship spoiled or interrupted. There is a relationship of affection, he is in the Executive Power and we are in the Legislative Powereither; In that sense, you heard the speech in the morning and the speeches in the afternoon, so we are well and good”, he stressed.
During Morena’s plenary, they highlighted the cancellations of the Secretary of the Interior, Adam Augusto Lopez Hernandez; of the Secretary of National Defense, Luis Cresencio Sandoval; of the Secretary of Citizen Security, Rosa Icela Rodriguezand the president of the party, Mario Slim.
Monreal said that he did not want to speculate about it and that kept the explanations that federal officials offered them, to “not enter the rumor process”. “There will be an opportunity for them to attend,” she concluded.
