At least eight bodies were found dead this Friday in the Rio Grande, which separates Mexico from the United States, after being dragged by the strong currents of the flow, according to US authorities.
U.S. and Mexican border agents recovered the eight bodies Thursday and rescued 53 people trying to swim across from Mexico to the United Statesaccording to the Tamaulipas newspaper, ‘Plinth‘.
Of the eight deceased migrants, two have been found by Mexican authoritieswhile the other six were located by the Office of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in the territory of Eagle Pass, Texas.
On the other hand, the Mexican Border Patrol also detained 39 migrants as part of a rescue, as reported by the chain Super Chanel 12. The number of people killed during 2022 in the attempt to cross the Rio Grande has risen to 226according to the aforementioned television.
