CFE: after earthquake, service has been restored to 68% of affected users

The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) reported that, after the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that occurred shortly after 1 p.m. on Monday, service has already been restored to 68% of the 1.2 million affected users.

The effects were concentrated in five entities of the Republic: the City of MexicoMexico state, MichoacanColima and Jalisco.

The CFE specified that those affected represent 8% of the 14.6 million users in the indicated states.

“The electrical infrastructure is being patrolled to identify the damage and continue to restore, to avoid any risk to citizens and CFE staff,” the Commission reported in a statement.

He added that it maintains close coordination with the National System of Civil protection and will continue with reset activities for affected users.

The service recovery data by state is:

  • Mexico City with 572,663 affected users, it has been reset to 68%.
  • Mexico state with 335,938 affected users, it has been reset to 52%.
  • Michoacan with 106,037 affected users, who have been restored to normal.
  • Colima with 145,808 affected users, it has been reset to 77%.
  • Jalisco with 72,055 affected users, it was restored to 84%.
