The head of the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués; and the ambassador of the Dominican Republic in Mexico, María Isabel Castillo Báez, received the first flight from Santo Domingo at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA).

Under the operation of the Dominican airline “Arajet”, Torruco Marqués affirmed that this new route strengthens air connectivity between Mexico and other countries and contributes to economic recovery in the tourism field of both nations.

The greater air connectivity that Arajet offers with the inauguration of flights to Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, together with its low costs, present a real opportunity to position the region in extra-regional markets as a true multi-destination travel option.

On the other hand, Torruco Marqués assured that on September 30 the airline will open new routes that will be from Santo Domingo to Cancun and from Santo Domingo to Monterrey.

Through connectivity we promote tourism activity, facilitating the movement of tourists to Mexico and within the country.

Likewise, he assured that in the first seven months of the year, they arrived in Mexico, from the Dominican Republic, 12 thousand 60 tourists by aironly 12% below the same period in 2019, with tourist spending of 13 million 641 thousand dollars, just 2.3% less than what was achieved in 2019.
