The former governor of Chihuahua, Cesar Duartewas transferred from a private hospital to a public one, reported the Chihuahua State Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the agency, the former governor, imprisoned for the crimes of embezzlement and criminal association, both with an aggravated penalty, was unable to continue treatment in the private unit.
Given this, the Sentence Execution Judge, Ernesto Armendáriz Ituarte, instructed the prison authority to transfer the patient to a type II public hospital.
“The accused was not able to continue with the treatment; however, he must continue with recuperative care, ”the communication reads.
For the transfer, the General Directorate of the Penitentiary System, Prevention and Social Reintegration carried out an operation, which culminated in the admission of the patient in the designated area at people deprived of liberty that are treated there.
“He will remain in said hospital to continue with the recovery and rehabilitation, which will be assessed periodically by medical personnel, until the fusion of the bone graft placed in the surgical intervention is consolidated.”
Since last June, Duarte had been hospitalized for a laparoscopic procedure.
