Naughty Dog, the studio behind successful video games like ‘crash bandicoot‘ or ‘Uncharted’, celebrates Last of Us Day every September 26, in honor of the day the spread of the cordyceps outbreak that doomed humanity in the PlayStation game became too great to control. Since 2013, both they and Sony have taken the opportunity to launch new products for fans of the Joel and Ellie story, and also to reveal new video games. But with ‘The Last of Us’ series landing on HBO next year, this year seemed a little more special. Last year we had the first photo of the series. But we begged for a trailer.

Days before TLOU Day, Neil Druckmann, creator of the game, and Craig Mazin, showrunner and co-writer, teased fans with a series of gifs from ‘The Last of Us’ and ‘Chernobyl’, of which Mazin was the creator, warming up for Joel and Ellie’s big day. HBO jumped in with their logo being distorted with clicker sounds. After having revealed a few first seconds of footage in a review of upcoming HBO news, finally we have a preview in conditions of one of the most anticipated series of next year:
Boston, 2033
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey return to the Home Box Office family after ‘Game of Thrones’ to become Joel and Ellie. Several years after Outbreak Day, Joel works as a mercenary and smuggler in a Boston that resists as best he can the threat of clickers and other aspects of humans deformed by the parasitic fungus.. One day she receives a curious task: to guard a girl named Ellie on the outskirts of the city, where she will be picked up by the Fireflies, a resistance group that continues to search for a cure for the epidemic. Joel, who is too used to living alone, does not exactly receive the assignment with open arms. But they have a survival adventure ahead of them that will change them forever.
The series of ‘The Last of Us’ will arrive on HBO Max in 2023. Its cast is completed with Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Anna Torv as Tess, Merle Dandridge as MarleneNick Offerman as Bill, Murray Bartlett as Frank, Storm Reid as Riley, and Lamar Johnson as Henry.
