They arrest 'El Gafe', alleged leader of the CJNG wanted for shooting in Zapopan

The Army announced this Thursday the arrest of César Augusto ‘N’, alias ‘El Gafe’, alleged leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartelaccused of crimes such as homicide and kidnapping, as well as an alleged armed attack in a shopping center for the kidnapping of a businessman.

The Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) reported that the authorities arrested Tuesday ‘The Gaffe‘, “alleged head of the plaza and main generator of violence in the municipalities of Zapopan, Tlajomulco de Zúñiga and El Salto, in Jalisco”.

The Sedena also arrested Juan Carlos ‘N’, whom he also points out as “alleged member of a criminal group with a presence in the state of Jalisco and at the national level.”

The authorities indicated that, after achieving the arrest of César Augusto, they seized “several packages with narcotic content, various Firearmschargers and cartridges of various calibers for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces”.

“The relevance of this arrest –’El Gafe’– (is that) he is linked to crimes such as homicide and kidnappingas well as the authorship of the events that occurred on October 2 in the shopping center in Zapopan, derived from which a person lost his life, “explained the Undersecretary of Public Security, Ricardo Mejia Berdeja.

Both the detainees and the seized material have been made available to the competent authorities, says a statement from the Mexican Ministry of Defense.

He also highlighted the inter-institutional coordination of the Army, the National Guard and other entities, “with which the commitment to ensure and safeguard the well-being of citizens is endorsed, to guarantee the peace and security of the population.

On October 2, one person died and six were injured in a shooting registered in a commercial center of the city of Zapopan, Jalisco. The incident took place due to an attempted kidnapping in the area, which led to the intervention of the Army.

The Jalisco prosecutor, Luis Joaquín Méndez, explained that among the injured are two of the suspects, an escort of the person who was supposed to be kidnapped and three people who were at the scene.
