Iran announces the development of its first hypersonic ballistic missile


The Revolutionary Guard of Iran announced this Thursday the manufacture of its first hypersonic ballistic missile and stressed that this projectile has the ability to penetrate “sophisticated” anti-aircraft systems.

The commander of the Aerospace Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Amir Ali Hayizadé, stressed that the missile can maneuver below and above the atmosphere and said it can penetrate all existing missile defense systems.

“I don’t think it can be found. no technology in the next few decades that will be able to counteract it”he said, while emphasizing that it is “a breakthrough” for the Iranian military industry, according to the report by the Iranian news agency Tasnim.

Tehran’s announcement comes amid tensions in negotiations to revive the 2015 nuclear dealdamaged by the unilateral withdrawal of the United States from it in 2018, and Western criticism of the country for its “destabilizing” activities in the region.

This same Thursday, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, Yurii Ignat, denounced that Russia has launched more than 400 Iranian-made kamikaze drones against the Ukrainian infrastructure since the beginning of the war.

Most of these drones were shot down, according to Ignat, who acknowledged, however, that it is “impossible” to destroy 100 percent of these unmanned vehicles.

The Ukrainian secret services denounced that Russia has ordered Fatah 110 and Zolfaghar ballistic missiles from Iran. To which should be added some 120 Iskander missiles that Russia itself has.

On November 5, Iran acknowledged for the first time that it had supplied drones to Moscow, but said that they were sent before the war in Ukraine, where Russia has used drones to attack power plants and civilian infrastructure.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian denied that Tehran continued to supply drones to Moscow.
