Allison Yarrow, from New York, has revealed that she didn't actually speak to the Duchess of Sussex for the show in a resurfaced Instagram post

One of Meghan Markle’s podcast guests has apparently revealed that she didn’t actually speak to the Duchess of Sussex for the show in an Instagram post.

Allison Yarrow, from New York, appeared on the Duchess’ show last week in an episode called ‘To “B” or not to “B”‘ where she discussed the term b**** and how it was applied to women in the public sphere in the nineties.

In clips from the show, the journalist’s comments are edited between comments from Meghan herself.

However, in a social media post from August, Allison shared a photograph of herself in front of a sign for Gimlet, an audio production house, before thanking a producer, Farrah Safarfi, for being ‘an excellent interviewer.’

While Alison appeared not to have spoken to Meghan for the episode, some guests, such as Meghan’s close friends Mellody Hobson, Jameela Jamil and Serena Williams, are featured having conversations with the Duchess on the podcast.

In the Instagram post, which was shared as the first episode of the series came out in August, Allison wrote: ‘Excited to be included in the visionary series hosted by Meghan the Duchess of Sussex that aims to dissect and subvert the archetypes that hold women back…

‘Cheers to producer @farrahsafari (an excellent interviewer) and the folks at @Gimlet @spotify who get it done!’

On producer Farrah Safari’s LinkedIn, she revealed she has been working for Gimlet since February as an Associate Producer.

In a post about working on Meghan’s podcast, she wrote: ‘This journey has been filled with breathtaking interviews, crunching deadlines, a whole lot of laughter and of course, challenging and combating the archetypes that women and people of marginalized genders face.

‘I am so grateful for my team. Their guidance, passion and true skills in audio cannot be replicated or replaced!’

A number of the episodes have featured Meghan’s celebrity friends in conversation with the Duchess, including Serena Williams, Sophie Trudeaux, Mindy Kahling and Jameela Jamil.

Meanwhile, she has also spoken to A-lister Paris Hilton for another episode of the podcast.

However episodes have also featured clips of experts and academics speaking about specific topics.

Experts have included Dr Laura Kay, who appeared in The Misconception of Ambition, and Dr. Mashinka Firunts Hakopian, who spoke on the episode The Duality of Diva with Mariah Carey.

The clips have been cleverly cut between Meghan’s comments, so it is not immediately apparent that the Duchess may not have spoken to the experts herself.

Meghan and Harry signed a lucrative deal with the audio streaming giant to host and produce podcasts, estimated to be worth around £18million, in late 2020.

However, she has only released nine episodes of her podcast Archetypes since then, as well as a holiday special featuring their son Archie and celebrity guests, in December 2020.

The podcast is being produced by Archewell Audio in partnership with Gimlet Media for Spotify.

Former Suits actress Meghan is listed as an executive producer on the series, along with Ben Browning, Archewell’s head of content, and Rebecca Sananes, Archewell’s head of audio.

Daily Mail’s Richard Eden previously reported that Meghan has hired a fact checker for her podcast.

Meghan didn’t choose a run-of-the-mill recruit but a young and highly talented American writer, Nicole Pasulka, whose interests closely mirror her own.

‘I write about criminal justice, activism, race, music, business, queer culture, and gender,’ Pasulka alerts visitors to her website, which mentions that she is ‘currently writing a book’.

In fact, her book was published this summer entitled: How You Get Famous – ‘a deep dive into New York city’s underground drag scene’.
