Ang Lee has signed on to direct a biopic about martial arts movie icon Bruce Lee.
In interview with Deadlinethe filmmaker of Life of Pi confirmed that he is developing a project about the actor/martial artist for Sony Pictures.
Also, ang lee revealed that his son Mason Lee He will play Bruce in the film.
“Accepted as neither fully American nor fully Chinese, Bruce Lee was a bridge between East and West that introduced the Kung Fu Chinese to the world, a combat scientist and an iconic artist who revolutionized both martial arts and action movies,” said the filmmaker.
“I feel compelled to tell the history of this unique and brilliant human being who longed to belong, possessed tremendous power in a 135-pound frame and who, through tireless hard work, made impossible dreams come true.”
Mason, best known for playing Teddy in The Hangover Part IIhas been training to play the star of Enter the Dragon during the last two years.
Capote’s screenwriter Dan Futterman is penning the script, while Bruce’s daughter, Shannon Leewill be one of the producers.
Bruce died at the age of 32 in 1973.
