The Mexican Army and the National Guard detained 12 men linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in the municipality of Guadalupe, Zacatecas, as part of the operations to follow up on the homicide the coordinator of the National Guard in the state, General José Silvestre Urzúa Padilla. The undersecretary pointed out that the hitman who fatally wounded General Urzua Padilla He was also killed during the operation on November 24. The death of the general occurred in the municipality of Jaltomate.

Mejía Berdeja said that an anti-kidnapping operation was what triggered these criminal acts in Zacatecas. In addition to the 12 people arrested, three municipal police officers from Pines, Zacatecas, they were detained for their links to criminal activities, in particular for kidnapping.
