Brittney Griner defended by Azurá Stevens, WNBA Finals - Game Four

WNBA star Brittney Griner was released Thursday in a prisoner swap with Russia, American and Russian officials said, for the AP.

The move comes in a high-profile exchange for Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout.

Griner’s release has been a priority for President Joe Biden since March of this year. He tweeted the news Thursday, saying, “Moments ago I spoke to Brittney Griner. She is safe. She is on a plane. She is on her way home.”
