The International Swimming Federation (FINA), meeting at an extraordinary congress in Melbourne, Australia, decided on Monday to change its name and become World Aquatics.
Since its creation in 1908 the International Federation had the name of FINA, the initials of its name in French (Fédération Internationale de Natation).

Members of the now exFINA also voted to create a Independent Aquatic Integrity Unitwhich will enter into force on January 1.
