López Obrador affirmed that the coup attempt by the conservatives of Brazil encouraged by the leadership of the oligarchic power, their spokesmen and fans, is “reprehensible and undemocratic.”
Governments, organizations and politicians from various parts of the world condemn the coup demonstrations taking place in Brazil and express their support for the government of Lula da Silva.
The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, condemned the events on his Twitter account and called for a “Urgent OAS meeting if you want to stay alive as an institution and apply the democratic charter“.
Meanwhile, the Chilean president, Gabriel Boric, said on the same social network that “the Government of Brazil has our full support in the face of this cowardly and vile attack on democracy“.
“We reject any attempt against the democratic institutions that this brotherly people has made,” Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said on his Twitter account.
The president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, expressed his repudiation of the takeovers of public buildings in Brasilia. He described the facts as “Coup attempt”.

The President of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, expressed his support for the democratic government and the persistence of the institutions: “All my support for President Da Silva and for the institutions freely and democratically elected by the Brazilian people.
