The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenskymade an appearance at the ceremony of the 80th edition of the Golden Globes through a recorded intervention, to defend that future generations should know the war only through movies.
“World War I claimed millions of lives, World War II tens of millions, there will be no third world war. It is not a trilogy,” Zelensky said, stressing that Ukraine will stop Russian aggression.
“I hope that all of you will be with us on our victory day,” said the Ukrainian president, while urging the spectators and those attending the ceremony to tell “the truth” on their social networks and television.
Zelensky was invoked at the gala by actor Sean Penn, who made a visibly emotional speech.
A similar event occurred during the grammy awards in April 2022 when Volodimir Zelensky also had an appearance on the screen and asked the musicians for support “but not silence” in the war in Ukraine.
“Music will break through anyway,” Zelensky said, asking artists listening to “tell the truth about the war on their social media, on TV. Support in any way. Of whatever. but not with silence”, he stressed at the biggest music party that was held for the first time at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
Thus, he emphasized that Ukrainian musicians “they wear bulletproof vests instead of tuxedos and sing to the wounded in hospitals.”
