The bishop of the Diocese of Tepic, Luis Artemio Flores Calzada, called on his parishioners to raise more than 8.5 million pesos, with which they will repair one of the lanterns on the towers of the La Asunción cathedral.
The structure fractured during the earthquake on September 19, 2022.
Through his social networks, the bishop also announced that the reconstruction work could take approximately a year.
“As you can see, there is more direct knowledge of the damage from the copulin north of Tepic Cathedral and work is already underway. I thank you very much, continue to support us in these expenses, with an estimate of 8.5 million and an approximate year of work (crane, scaffolding, personnel, stonemasons, etc.)”.
Four months ago, the bishop made this same appeal, even alluding to the local authorities, without it being known so far if any donation has been given, and how much it has been.
Meanwhile, the bishop offered a bank account to make donations for the work on this building that is included in the catalog of historical monuments of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).
“You can deposit or make a transfer in the name of: CATHEDRAL RECTORY. BANK: BANCOMER. CTA . 0186421482 INTERBANK CABLE: 012560001864214828 0 Deliver your donation at the Tepic Cathedral office on Amado Nervo street, there they will give you your receipt. The INAH collaborates in these repairs. The local delegate of the agency, Othón Quiroga, assured that they have 30 percent progress, and the structure, scaffolding, corridors, and crane, has been established for restorative activities.
Since last September also, because of this incident, the main artery in the center of the Nayarit capital has been clogged and has become one of the main road problems.
