Ruy Perez Tamayo (1924-2022), doctor, researcher and writer, stood out as one of the most important promoters of science in Mexico. He combined his scientific work with an exceptional capacity for dissemination. He published more than 170 scientific articles and 87 books, guided thousands of students in their university education, and founded the Pathology Unit of the Faculty of Medicine of the UNAM. He was recognized with the 1974 National Science Award and the 1986 Aída Weiss Award, among others.
One year after his death, El Colegio Nacional pays tribute to the Mexican scientist, who at all times shared his knowledge. At the end of the commemoration, the academic María Isabel Pérez Montfort, daughter of Dr. Ruy Pérez Tamayo, will unveil the portrait of the collegiate, the work of the painter Alberto Castro Leñero.
