They seek to 'revive' 10 thousand abandoned houses with AIFA activity


Almost a year after the commissioning of the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), it is expected that the economic impact and different activities around it will contribute to the construction and recovery of abandoned houses in different municipalities of the state of Mexico.

In the near future, the reconstruction and urbanization of at least 10,000 homes will begin in the municipalities of Huehuetoca, Zumpango and Tecámac, said the Infonavit delegate in the State of Mexico, Dayra Nallely Vergara Vargas.

This from the coordination between federal and municipal authorities, which will be in charge of introducing public services; the Sedatu of territorial ordering, the Infonavit in the facilitation of credits.

“The Program consists of being able to work in polygons with the federal, state and municipal authorities to regenerate housing so that it can begin to be inhabited; The aim is to be able to recover and regularize them”.

The operation of the AIFA together with the need to promote growth or development around it, will be a trigger for the occupation of these territories, although he stressed that it will depend on the needs of the families.

The Federal official announced that with the installation of care modules in Jilotepec, Nezahualcóyotl and within the AIFA in Zumpango, in addition to promoting the services of its institute, recovered homes can be placed.

Until March 2022, the Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (SEDATU) had records that there were just over 117,000 abandoned homes in the peripheral area of ​​the airport, mainly in Zumpango, Huehuetoca, Nextlalpan and Tecámac.

The lack of basic services and insecurity were one of the main causes of these abandonments.

At the beginning of January, the head of Infonavit, Carlos Martinez Velázquez, affirmed that one of the goals of the federal government at the end of the six-year term is the rescue of 100,000 homes; So far only 20,000 of them have been rescued and placed.
