Mexico City police captured Carlos Caro Quintero, brother of drug trafficker Rafael Caro Quintero, leader of the Pacific Cartel.

The 61-year-old man was detected during patrols in the Lomas de Chapultepec neighborhood, Miguel Hidalgo mayor’s office. He was traveling aboard a luxury van, with the license plates covered.

When conducting a review, he was assured a short firearm, four chargers and 33 useful cartridges, as well as a package with eight kilos of marijuana and 124 doses of cocaine.

The detainee, originally from Badiraguato, Sinaloa, is identified as a member of the Pacific Cartel.

The police reported that Carlos Caro Quintero has a criminal record in the state of Jalisco in 2019 and Durango in 2022; for carrying a firearm and for creating a scandal on public roads, respectively.

He will be presented before the public prosecutor for the weapon and drugs and there it will be determined if he has other processes pending before the courts.

Rafael Caro Quintero was recaptured in July of last year, during a special forces operation in the golden triangle.

He is currently in prison while his extradition process to the United States takes place.
