Goya Awards 2023: Nerea Barros and Jaime Olías, actors and directors

At what point does an actor or actress decide to go “to the other side”? Nerea Barros, nominated for a Goya for Best Documentary Short for ‘Memoria’; and Jaime Olías, who opted for ‘big head’ in the category of Best Fiction Short for ‘Chaval’, are the new guests at our Talks with the Goyas. During our conversation, they both reflect on the moment they felt they had something to say behind the scenes.

Nerea, who is currently recording ‘La red púrpura’, the second part of ‘La novia gitana’ for AtresPlayer PREMIUM, makes her directorial debut with a very personal and precious piece in which a former fisherman and his granddaughter go out in search of the missing Aral Sea . Jaime, for his part, has chosen Itzan Escamilla to star in a dizzying and masterful sequence shot that confirms him as one of the most promising young talents.

“All actors should direct, and all directors should try acting,” they acknowledge. Because the experience has placed them in another place, both when facing a shoot as performers, and when relating to them as directors.

Do not miss these and other reflections on the frontiers of the profession (and of life itself), in our new installment of the Talks with the Goya 2023.
