Missing Taiwanese soldier located in China

The Taiwan Ministry of Defense confirmed that a soldier from its army was reported missing since last Thursday morning, but was located in the last hours on the coast of mainland China.

The government assured that there are mechanisms to identify if the soldier deserted, or what were the reasons why the officer has not called the roll call.

The Taiwanese agency reported in a statement that the soldier disappeared on Erdan Island -located 5 km from Xiamen, China-, for which reason a special group has already been formed to contact him.

It was the Minister of Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council, Chiu Tai-San, who declared that China communicated the location of the soldier.

Chiu did not disclose the situation between the two nations with which the contact and location of the soldier will take place.
