The official report states that elements of the State Preventive Police and the Municipal Police accompanied the funeral procession of the municipal police officer who lost his life last Saturday after an assault, when they were ambushed near the community of San Marcos.
“When moving on the San Marcos-Santa María highway section, the officers observed a white pick-up truck, whose occupants, upon detecting the police presence, began to attack them with firearms.”
According to the authorities, there were no injuries and the officers repelled the attack, managing to arrest three people —a woman and two men.
In addition, two long and one short firearms, chargers, cartridges, tactical equipment, as well as the vehicle in which the attackers were traveling, were seized.
