Marvel does not go through its best moments. Although it remains one of the main commercial forces in cinema today and its titles continue to dominate the box office and streaming, the superhero saga led by Kevin Feige has been showing signs of exhaustion and saturation for some time, which would have led the studio to rethink its release strategy for the coming years.
The recent premiere of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ seems to have been the final wake-up call. The third installment of Ant-Man is the worst valued by critics in the Marvel Cinematic Universe along with ‘Eternals’ and the public has not received it with much enthusiasm either. In this situation, Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, has expressed his intention to make changes to solve the problem that is beginning to be blamed on the studio with so much release followed, focusing on quality over quantity: “Is there a need for a third or fourth sequel or is it time to focus on other characters,” he said recently (via Deadline).
According to rumors, Disney would be putting the brakes on to space out the premieres of its big properties a little more, especially its series, which would result in multiple delays in Phases 5 and 6 of Marvel. Everything is speculative, but viewers have noticed a detail on Disney + that could corroborate it. In a new platform update, Marvel series have changed their release window to “Coming Soon”, including those that already had an approximate datesuch as the second season of ‘What would happen if…?’, which was scheduled for early 2023, or ‘Secret Invasion’, which did not yet have an official date, but would be set for spring of this year.

Other series that are rumored to end up arriving later than expected are the spin-offs ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos’ and ‘Echo’. Although it should be noted that, initially, there is no reason to fear for them, since, like the reboot of ‘Daredevil’, entitled ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, ‘Secret Invasion’ or the new season of ‘Loki ‘, their productions are underway and will surely reach the platform. What this supposed agitation in Marvel would indicate is an intention to accept the “less is more”, that is, contain property and prevent accumulation from taking its toll.
