A minute of silence is observed in the Senate for migrants

The Senate of the Republic observed this Wednesday a minute of silence in memory of the migrants who died during the fire in the Provisional Stay in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua.

In addition, at the proposal of PAN senator Kenia López Rabadán, a point of agreement was presented to request the resignation of the heads of the Interior, Foreign Relations and the National Institute of Migration, Adán Augusto López, Marcelo Ebrard and Francisco Garduño, respectively .

Alejandro Armenta, president of the Senate Board of Directors, said that the Senate’s agenda includes a point of agreement on the fire in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, which will allow senators to debate the case, as agreed in the Political Coordination Board.

The Morena bench also presented proposals for the issue to be debated, as well as the PRI, so it is contemplated that throughout this session the issue will be addressed by legislators.

The format of the debate has generated division among the parliamentary groups, for which reason Armenta asked that whatever agreement is reached, the Senate regulations must be respected.

The Opposition has accused that Morena seeks to address the immigration issue in a superficial way and to determine the responsibilities of federal officials.
