Ahmed was speaking to reporters on Saturday night when three men infiltrated among the group of reporters opened fire on him and his brother shouting “Hail to the god Ram,” a Hindu rallying cry in his attacks on the country’s Muslim minority.
“The police got them out of the car and took them for a medical check-up. Just after entering the medical compound, shots were heard (…) they were shot,” Atiq Ahmed’s lawyer told the press, Vijay Mishra.
