A well-known former politician from India, accused of murder and that he has already faced justice for cases related to mafia activities, and his brother were shot dead while they were going to a medical center escorted by the police in northern India.

Ahmed was speaking to reporters on Saturday night when three men infiltrated among the group of reporters opened fire on him and his brother shouting “Hail to the god Ram,” a Hindu rallying cry in his attacks on the country’s Muslim minority.
“The police got them out of the car and took them for a medical check-up. Just after entering the medical compound, shots were heard (…) they were shot,” Atiq Ahmed’s lawyer told the press, Vijay Mishra.
