Moreno returns after two years of absence
Alexa Moreno was absent from competition for nearly two years after undergoing shoulder and ankle surgery due to previous injuries.
In August 2021, the Baja Californian gymnast commented in a virtual press conference that she has suffered an injury for a long time, which was treated by her team of doctors to fulfill the dream of competing in her second summer fair.
“I need surgery soon because I can’t take it anymore, in February they told me that I could only participate in show jumping in Tokyo, but thanks to the doctors I was able to feel better and complete the all around.”
Through exercises, the native of Mexicali was able to stabilize the strength in her shoulder and compete in the Asian joust where she achieved the best place in history for national artistic gymnastics.
Alexa Moreno finished fourth in the vault final with 14,716 points, just 17 hundredths of a point behind South Korea’s Seojeong Yeo (14,733), who took bronze. The gold medal went to the Brazilian Rebeca Andrade (15,083) and the silver to Mikayla Skinner of the United States (14,916).
