The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) delivered the title of assignment of the mayan train to the Secretary of National Defense (sedena), according to a decree published this Tuesday in the edition of the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF).
According to the document, the title is delivered in favor of the company Tren Maya, SA de CV, created by the Sedena, to operate the Mayan Train but also for the public cargo and passenger transport service.
In April 2020, the Ministry of Transportation delivered the Mayan Train to the majority state company Fonatur SA de CV. But on May 3, the Sedena company requested the assignment title, which was finally delivered this Tuesday.
He published decree confirms that the assignment of the Mayan Train to the military company will have a validity indefinitely.
“Fonatur Tren Maya requested to modify its assignment title to carry out the construction of the Tren Maya communication general road for a sufficient period to complete the execution of the construction works, which are currently in process and, once completed, be handed over to the majority state-owned company, Tren Maya, SA de CV, excluding, consequently, the operation and exploitation of the railway”, he points out.
In the title, it is emphasized that the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) authorized the state company to charge the use of the Mayan Train.
