President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that a company from the Secretary of the Navy (Semar) will be in charge of operating the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.
During an event to commemorate the Marine Day, in Tamaulipas, López Obrador said that the Marine will manage the entire Isthmus of Tehuantepec project, which includes the Interoceanic railway, which will run from Salina Cruz to Coatzacoalcos, including the sections that were concessioned to ferrosur of Germán Larrea, as well as the ports that will integrate it.
“By the way, yesterday (Wednesday) a concession was recovered and now only the Nation will have control over the Isthmus of Tehuantepec for reasons of national security and public utility,” said López Obrador.
“A company from the Secretary of the Navy will manage this line, from Guatemala to Ixtepec, and from Salina Cruz to Coatzacoalcos, and from Coatzacoalcos to Palenque, plus four ports (…) all of this under the responsibility of the Secretary of the Navy,” he added.

Lopez Obrador assured that the Navy It is a “very important” pillar for the State, since it not only helps economically and socially, but also politically.
