Since last June 2 we can now delve into the Spider-Verse in theaters with ‘Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse’, the second film in the trilogy focused on Miles Morales. The animated film is the latest installment of an already quite long list of movies focused on Marvel wall-crawlers.
But which of all is the best of them? We will all have our favorite for different reasons. Peter Parker made his big screen debut in 2002 with Tobey Maguireand the last adventure in live action was precisely the ambitious ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, which in 2021 dared to unite the three Peters from the films.
Tom Holland, the last one for the moment to put on the mask for the saga (and the first to also be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe), has revealed What is your favorite Spider-Man movie recently? And no, it’s not yoursit’s not even from the Maguire trilogy or one of the two by Andrew Garfield:
“I think the first of the Spider-Verse (‘Spider-Man: A New Universe’) is the best Spider-Man movie ever made.. I am very proud of all the people involved. Amy Pascal is like my mother. He was supposed to go with her (to the second premiere) as her date. I couldn’t because I’m working (in the press tour of ‘The Crowded Room’, her new series for Apple TV +). But I am incredibly proud of them. I’m excited for the second. I’m sure she will live up to all expectations, I can’t wait to see her.”
He is not alone in choosing the film by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman as the best wall-crawling film. ‘A new universe’ came to beat Disney and Pixar at the Oscars and win the statuette for best animated film.
Critics agree
The critics also choose it as their favorite, with ‘Crossing the multiverse’ very close. The sequel has 95% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes with an average of 8.7, while the first has an incredible 98% positive reviews and an average of 8.8.. The following in the ranking are ‘Spider-Man 2’ and ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ with 93% positive reviews on the tomato website, but Sam Raimi wins in average rating with 8.3 compared to the 7.9 of the multiverse in real action.
The Miles Morales trilogy will conclude in theaters next year, on March 29, with ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Multiverse’. ‘Spider-Man: A New Universe’ is available streaming on Netflix and Movistar Plus+.
