'The return of the witches 2'

After a long wait of almost thirty years, a black flame candle was relit in Salem in 2022, bringing Winifred, Sarah and Mary Sanderson back. Released on Disney +, ‘The return of the witches 2’, broke records on the platform and now, a year later, we can assure that the Sanderson sisters return again.

Sean Bailey, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, has confirmed in an interview with The New York Times that ‘The return of the witches 3’ is already in development.

Although the news comes as a surprise, the end of the sequel hinted that this could happen at some point. And it is that, in the post-credits scene of the last movie It looked like Gilbert (the witches’ black cat), found a box labeled ‘Black Flame Candles’, hinting that there were still more candles that could bring the three sisters back.

In the original 1993 film, Winifred, Sarah, and Mary are mistakenly conjured on Halloween night by teenagers from Salem, Massachusetts. With the objective of stealing their youth from the children of the town, the three witches terrorize the city while the teenagers who have summoned them try to prevent them from fulfilling their objective. In the 2022 sequel, history repeats itself, but this time they return with a greater thirst for revenge.

It is still unknown how the third installment will be, but how could it be otherwise, the Sanderson sisters will once again be played by Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy.

It would not be the only return

In the same interview, Bailey has confirmed that The House of Mouse is also thinking of bringing back ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’: “We think we have a exciting and really good story that lives up to the previous movies but also has something new to tell”.
