'The Witcher'

On June 29, the third season of ‘The Witcher’ premieres on Netflix, the last one with Henry Cavill (‘The Man of Steel’) in the role of Geralt de Rivia. As of the fourth installment, Liam Hemsworth (‘The Hunger Games’) it will replace its predecessor in a series that has decided not to ignore the sorcerer’s physical change in its story, but rather to explain it through it.

The recast is always a delicate subject, even more so if it is about the actor who has spent three seasons giving life to the main character, which is the case that happens in ‘The Witcher’. However, Tomek Baginski, executive producer of the series, not only assures in an interview with yahoo uk that replacing Cavill will not harm the project, but rather They have found a way to justify the change in appearance in its plot that Geralt will suffer with the arrival of Hemsworth:

“I don’t want to get too excited, but it’s been a great ride having Henry Cavill on the show and we will miss him, but at the same time, we have a very, very good plan to introduce our new Geralt and our new take on the character with Liam. I’m not going to delve into those ideas because he’s a big spoiler, but he’s very, very tied to the ideas that appear in the books, especially the fifth.”

Baginski believes that his plan is “very faithful to the original materialto what is established in the books” and that the change “will be quite seamless”. The executive producer explains that it will be exciting to see “a new Geralt”.

Cavill’s Farewell

On June 19, Cavill took advantage of his presence at Netflix’s TUDUM event to say goodbye to a character he declares himself a big fan of and couldn’t help but get emotional when talking about his co-stars. Visibly affected and in front of an entire audience that applauded himthe actor center his goodbye in “the pleasure” that has been working with the rest of the actors and actresses who star in the Netflix series:

“Thank you very much everyone. Thank you, I really feel the love, I love you too, it’s wonderful to be here, but I’m going to talk about what it’s like to record my last season and I want to talk about my teammates because, once again, it has been a pleasure and an honor to work with you. You bring so much nuance and detail to these characters that they risk being oversimplified… what you have done with them has required work, care and effort and believe me, working with you has been the greatest of pleasures. I’m going to miss you, I’m going to miss you a lot.”

As usual in many Netflix series, the third installment of ‘The Witcher’ will not release all its episodes at once, the season will be divided into two parts. The first five episodes will arrive on the streaming platform on June 29, while the remaining three on July 27.
