James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, confirmed the actor David Corenswet as the new protagonist of his film “Superman: Legacy“.
Gunn, writer and director of the film, ratified through instagram that Corenswet will be the actor who will give life to the famous journalist and undercover superhero Clark Kent in the film whose premiere is scheduled for July 11, 2025.
The film will be produced by Peter Safran, co-head of the studio along with Gunn, and is part of the “Gods and Monsters” project with which DC Studios intends to reboot the DC Comics universeafter a series of box office flops like “Black Adam” and “Shazam!”.
The director also announced that actress Rachel Brosnahan will be the new Lois Lanea reporter for the Daily Planet and Kent’s main fictional love interest.
At the beginning of the year, Safran advanced that “Superman: Legacy” will show the journey that the superhero created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster will undertake, and his attempts to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human formation as Clark Kent from Smallville, Kansas.
Corenswet thus replaces Henry Cavillthe last actor who gave life to Superman a decade ago in Zack Snyder’s film, “Man of Steel”, and who won the hearts of fans with his performance, while Brosnahan replaces Amy Adams in the role of Lane .
David Corenswet became known with the series “The Politician”but before he had already been part of projects such as the “Hollywood” miniseries or “Moe and Jerryweather”, where he himself directed some comic “sketches”.
Another of the works that have catapulted his career was the horror film “Pearl” (2022), by Ti West, and his next television project will be with Natalie Portman in the Apple series “The Lady In The Lake”. However, “Superman: Legacy” could be the great role of the 29-year-old born in Philadelphia, United States. (EFE)
