Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel 2 features Zawe Ashton as an unknown character who is expected to be the villain. Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers made her MCU debut in 2019 Captain Marvel, after being teased in the post-credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War. But Deadline Speculation that there could be multiple villains matches the first Captain Marvel film, which featured not just Jude Law as Yon-Rogg’s friend-turned-foe, but Annette Bening as the Supreme Intelligence of the Kree. Ashton may be the most obvious villain, while another is revealed later in Captain Marvel 2. With Captain Marvel joined by Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau, who may or may not be her superhero Spectrum alter ego by then, there is certainly enough superhero power to fight more than one villain in the movie. Still, it remains to be seen who exactly Ashton will play, though more may be revealed once filming for the sequel begins.

With this addition of Ashton, who joins her fellow co-stars in the Nia DaCosta-directed film (The candy man) from a script by Megan McDonnell (WandaVision), Captain Marvel 2 is proving to be a truly female-led affair. Marvel fans have been asking for more representation in the MCU for quite a few years and it appears that Marvel director Kevin Feige is keeping the promises he made of greater diversity in front of and behind the cameras. In all, the sequel is proving to be one of the many exciting projects the MCU has ahead of it, and more about it is sure to be revealed. Captain Marvel 2 once filming begins in the next few months. Until confirmed, Ashton’s villain in Captain Marvel 2 it is left to speculation.
