Firefly writer José Molina accused Joss Whedon of being cruel to staff writers, going so far as to brag about making them cry.
Since multiple actors of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Y Angel came forward to support Charisma Carpenter’s allegations of abuse on set by showrunner Joss Whedon, other former Whedon co-workers and actors are criticizing the writer for his past behavior.
The last one is Firefly writer José Molina, who took to Twitter Friday night to denounce what he called Whedon’s “casually cruel” behavior.
Ray Fisher started the dialogue about Whedon’s alleged abusive behavior when Fisher spoke about his dealings during the filming of League of Justice, which Whedon took over as director after initial director Zack Snyder left the film following the tragic death of his daughter. Former Buffy Y Angel The star, Charisma Carpenter, later started a new line of speech when she posted her own alleged abusive experiences with Whedon while claiming she was with Fisher.

Now, Buffy Y Angel Stars and writers join Carpenter in supporting her as well. Buffy star, amber benson, wrote on Twitter, “Buffy was a toxic environment and it starts at the top. @AllCharisma is telling the truth and I support her 100%. There was a lot of damage during that time and many of us are still processing it over twenty years later. # IStandWithRayFisher #IStandWithCharismaCarpenter”
Molina then replied to Benson on Twitter, adding your own opinion:
“Casually cruel” is a perfect way to describe Joss. He thought being mean was fun. Making the writers cry during a writing session was especially hysterical. In fact, he liked to brag about the time he made a writer cry twice in a meeting. #IStandWithCharismaCarpenter
Molina was a writer in the only season that Firefly was on air and served as executive story editor on the series. He wrote the ninth episode of the series, “Ariel”, as well as the eleventh episode, “Trash.” Since then, Molina has been a writer and co-executive producer on several shows, including Without a trace, Castle, Grimm, The vampire diaries, Sleepy hollow Y Agent carter.
He follows the ex Buffy writer (and Whedon’s successor as showrunner on the series), Marti Noxon, as someone in the writing room with Whedon bringing up the accusations of abusive behavior on the part of the writer.
